What is GLEDA?
Founded in 2018 and named after SHPE DFW's co-founders Alberto Gutierrez and Fernando Laclette, the Gutierrez-Laclette Engineering Development ApprenticeSHPE (GLEDA) offers entry-level engineers the opportunity to kick-start their careers.
Through a rotational program, this dynamic leadership development program will transform your leadership vision and approach to tackle complex issues common in the professional environment. You’ll move out of your comfort zone and develop your own personal style of authentic leadership that enables you to coach others, nurture talent and lead change across organizations and multi-generational teams. The curriculum over the course of one year, will grow your competencies in:
Additionally, the GLEDA cohort will lead special project committees for SHPE DFW's events and signature programs. As a result, you’ll move out of your comfort zone and develop your own personal style of authentic leadership that enables you to coach others, nurture talent and lead change across organizations and multi-generational teams. Finally, GLEDA is built upon an "ApprenticeSHPE" model, where you will also be paired with a SHPE DFW professional in the same discipline and/or industry to provide you with supplemental career guidance and feedback. Graduates of the program are recognized for their demonstrated excellence & commitment in engineering leadership at the annual SHPE DFW Gala. Thank you for your interest in this program. GLEDA PROGRAM MANAGEMENT TEAM
NICOLAS FERNANDEZ
Born and raised in Barrancabermeja, Colombia (South America) Nicolas moved to Miami, FL to complete his junior and senior year of high school before moving to Columbus, OH to pursue a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University. Through his time at Ohio State he was highly involved with his SHPE chapter holding positions such as Noche de Ciencias Activities Chair, Sponsorship chair, Vice-President, and President where he led the organization to earn their first “Outstanding Student Organization Award” for the College of Engineering. Nicolas has internship/Co-Op experience with companies such as John Deere, Eaton, ArcelorMittal, and Texas Instruments. Upon graduating with his master’s in Electrical & Computer Engineering he started his professional engineering career with Texas Instruments in their TMG rotational program. As part of the Thin Films module at DFAB he is responsible for the upkeep and manufacturing availability of multiple CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) chambers throughout the semiconductor device fabrication. He is also the process owner in charge of delivering products within specification limits while enhancing/troubleshooting wafer variation. He recently transitioned to his second role with the GaN Epi module where he is working on the installation of new metrology tools in his wafer fabrication facility. Nicolas enjoys spending time with his two dogs Mocha (German Shepherd/Husky) and Canela (Rottweiler/Doberman), outdoors, and playing various sports."

IVAN SUAREZ
Ivan is an Electronic Engineer at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth, TX. After graduating from the University of California, Merced in 2018 with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, he joined the Flight Test Detailed Design Team at LM Aero. In his position, Ivan has led a team of engineers in successfully completing aircraft modifications. He is an avid aviation geek and enjoys video games.

GUTAVO HENRIQUEZ
Gustavo Henriquez grew up in Venezuela but completed his B.S in Biomedical Engineering from the University of North Texas in 2018 in Denton, Texas. Gustavo began his professional career at BNSF Railway in 2019 as a Management Trainee and most recently held the role of Supervisor of Design and Services for Signal R&D where he was involved with research, development, and engineering related to new and existing equipment for Railway Signal Systems. Gustavo is Currently an Assistant Construction Supervisor where he manages the installation and construction of Signal Automated Control Systems on rail for the safe operation of trains across the company’s railway network.
