Serve as a GLEDA Mentor to Entry-level Engineers

Looking for Professionals with 5+ years of work experience to mentor the  class of the Gutierrez-Laclette Engineering Development ApprenticeSHPE (GLEDA) program.  Learn more about this initiative here.

GLEDA is built upon an apprenticeship model, where you will be paired with an entry-level engineer in the same discipline and/or industry where you will have the opportunity to share your insight into the profession & your own journey to becoming an engineer.  Intent is for you to share your own experiences with 2-3 entry level engineers during an informal meeting.  Afterwards, you will meet with your individual mentees ad-hoc as needed to provide career guidance & feedback during GLEDA's first year.

MentorSHPE Cycle: 1 year volunteering commitment.

Suggested meeting frequency quarterly.

Reasons why you should become a GLEDA Mentor!

  • Campus hires who are mentored are 2x as likely to succeed during their first year into the profession than those who are not
  • The mentoring curriculum is customized and research based to align to your needs and the GLEDA engineer you are paired with
  • This is your opportunity to share with junior engineers your lessons learned & the wisdom you wish you would have had at the start of your career

SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.
