[www.16personalities.com/isfj-personality] Our current President, Drea, had this to say about what it means to be President of SHPE DFW:
My background has been in FinTech for the last 8 years as a hybrid solutions engineer and technical project manager. Many who know me well, know that I'm quite the introvert and prefer being behind the scenes - seriously, I did theater crew and was a sound engineer both in H.S. & College. And yes SHPE BOD is perfect for us quieter folks that are interested in the details. I'm beyond grateful for the platform it has given me to become a better leader! As President, my core objective is to create a vision for the Chapter that becomes the foundation for the Board to execute. Then I strive to lead the BOD to help them attain their Goals and those of the Chapter for the year. Ultimately, I am responsible and accountable for our year-end results. Key Responsibilities:
SHPE stages regional leadership development conferences [RLDCs] on a yearly basis for the leadership of the SHPE student chapters to improve their organizational, managerial, and technical skills. They take place in all of the seven SHPE regions. For Region 5, which includes Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Alabama it was hosted in San Antonio, Texas March 21 – 24, 2019.
Our SHPE DFW chapter brought 8 professional members to Region 5's RLDC. Highlights were workshops presented by Facebook, Capital One, Boeing, Caterpillar, and a SHPEtina Fire Side Chat with Cummins. The DFW professionals also got to enjoy being tourists in downtown San Antonio visiting the Alamo and tasting the wonders of the Riverwalk. During the Awards Gala, SHPE DFW was acknowledged a Blue Chip recipient earned by scoring high on bi-annual reports on the chapter's activities and involvement in the community. Our President - Andrea V. Shinn - won the prestigious Regional Alpha Female Award. During the presentation for her award, our Regional Vice President shared "A true boss lady this person is. Filled with ideas for fruitful development and growth for the chapter, Andrea has structured her chapter finances, developed key partnerships in the surrounding areas, raised thousands in scholarships and developed an apprenticeship program to address our leadership pipeline problem. A fierce leader who hates the spotlight but loves seeing those around her succeed - Congratulations!" Join our friendly recreational volleyball tournament at Texas Image Sand coordinated by the GLEDA fundraising team to raise funds for the DFW chapter.
Teams will be made up of 6 players but you can have more players in your team to rotate in and out. Your team captain can register your team and players need to register themselves.
