Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) seeks to empower every member of our community with the tools to achieve their STEM dream. SHPE’s goal for our K-5 students is to introduce them as early as possible to our strong network of SHPE members (the SHPE Familia) so that the students may:
As an educator, please take advantage of the amazing hands-on, free curriculum from Engineering is Elementary: Engineering Adventures. Exposure and implementation of these activities inside and outside of the classroom will keep the child(ren) engaged in STEM and give them the confidence to know no dream is too big!
- SEE a professional that has similar life experiences they have,
- BELIEVE they can pursue a degree and career in any STEM field of their choice, and
- ACHIEVE their dreams with the support of the SHPE Familia.

6-8 Grade
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) supports STEM efforts for grades 6-8 by engaging students in hands-on STEM activities and providing a national network comprised of engineering college students and professionals.
Middle schools have the opportunity to participate in Noche de Ciencias which is a 2-4 hour event that includes hands-on STEM activities and resources for parents to encourage their child to pursue STEM careers and higher education. Contact our Community Outreach Director for more details.

STEMfire
STEMfire is a collaboration tool focused on facilitating volunteer engagements with students & educators. Volunteers and edcators provide profiles in STEMfire. Educators request support for specific events and the STEMfire tool will share these events with all volunteers. Educators can communicate directly with volunteers within the STEMfire tool and also the ability to search the volunteer database for specific domain experience.

NAF is a national (non-profit) network of education, business, and community leaders who work together to ensure high school students are college, career, and future ready. NAF’s educational design ignites students’ passion for learning and gives businesses the opportunity to shape America’s future workforce by transforming the learning environment through industry-specific curricula and work-based learning experiences, including internships. Having authentic work experience, especially through a high quality internship, prior to graduation is critical to demonstrating college and career readiness. Dallas-ISD will have 42 NAF Academies, each focusing on one of our 5 career themes: Engineering, Finance, Health Science, Hospitality/Tourism, and Information Technology.
